Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: Sehr gut, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover, Veranstaltung: Theorie und Praxis des bürgerlichen Trauerspiels: Gotthold Ephraim Lessings "Emilia Galotti", 22 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Gotthold Ephraim Lessing gilt als Schöpfer einer dramatischen Gattung der deutschen Aufklärung: dem bürgerlichen Trauerspiel. Auch wenn „Miß Sara Sampson“ (1755) das erste Werk ist, so kommt „Emilia Galotti“ (1772) doch eine besondere Bedeutung zu. Mit ihr wird der Typus des empfindsamen bürgerlichen Trauerspiels abgelöst. An ihr orientieren sich nachfolgende Stückeschreiber, so auch Friedrich Schiller, dessen „Kabale und Liebe“ (1784) als ein Höhepunkt der Gattung im Sturm und Drang gilt.
Das Bürgerliche wird nicht allein durch den sozialen Stand des Personals bestimmt, sondern durch die Wert- und Moralvorstellungen der Protagonisten (Tugend und Vernunft als leitende Prinzipien), die Lebenssphäre der bürgerlichen Kleinfamilie, ihre Beziehungen und Konflikte (Familienkonvention und Ich-Autonomie als Pole) - namentlich in der Gattenwahl der Tochter als freie Entscheidung. Grundlegend handelt es sich oft um einen Vater-Tochter-Konflikt in Form eines dominanten Vaters und einer gefährdeten Tochter. Darin, dass das Private Gegenstand der Tragödie ist, liegt das Bürgerliche der Gattung. Die Geschäftswelt, als zweite Sphäre des Bürgertums, bleibt ausgeklammert.
Später rückt der Konflikt der Stände – oft durch Liebesbeziehungen zwischen den Ständen ausgelöst – in den Mittelpunkt, für die beide behandelten Dramen Beispiele sind. Die politischen Konflikte des hohen Adels werden durch private Konflikte von niederem Adel und Bürgertum abgelöst.
Im Sturm und Drang erhält das bürgerliche Trauerspiel zudem eine offen gesellschaftskritische Tendenz.
In der vorliegenden Arbeit beschäftige ich mich mit einem Vergleich dieser beiden Klassiker des deutschen Dramas und lege den besonderen Schwerpunkt auf die weiblichen Hauptfiguren Emilia Galotti und Luise Millerin. Dreiteilig gestaltet sich die Arbeit. Zunächst geht es um einen direkten Vergleich der beiden jungen Frauen unter verschiedenen Aspekten, danach um interpersonelle Strukturen und in einem abschließenden allgemeineren Teil um Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede in den behandelten Trauerspielen.
