Dabei ist ca. 42% der Deutschen zwar bewusst, dass die gesetzliche Altersvorsorge nicht ausreichend sein wird, um den Lebensstandard zu halten, dennoch sind die wenigsten bereit, mehr in die private Altersvorsorge zu investieren. Zusätzliche Vorsorge wird somit zunehmend wichtiger. Eine eigene Immobilie kann dazu beitragen, denn der Immobilienbesitz und das daraus resultierende mietfreie
Wohnen in der eigenen Immobilie gelten als wichtiger Baustein für die Altersvorsorge.

Ein Ziel der Arbeit besteht darin, zu zeigen, wie wichtig die zusätzliche private Altersvorsorge ist. Dies geschieht unter Berücksichtigung der Notwendigkeit der Altersvorsorge sowie der demografischen Entwicklung. Das Hauptziel der Arbeit ist
die Analyse, wie sich der Kauf einer Immobilie im Vergleich zur Mietzahlung auf den Lebensstandard im Alter auswirkt. Die Altersvorsorge und die verschiedenen Unterformen sind umfassend, sodass in der vorliegenden Arbeit nur ein allgemeiner Überblick gegeben wird.
