Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich BWL - Rechnungswesen, Bilanzierung, Steuern, Note: 1,7, Universität Hamburg, Veranstaltung: Bilanzen, 9 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit wird ein Grundüberblick über die Bilanzierung von Leasinggegenständen gemäß den Vorschriften von IAS 17 dargestellt. Es handelt sich dabei um den heutigen Stand, der nach wie vor diskussionswürdig ist.
Anders als in Deutschland, wo es kaum Diskussionen zu diesem Thema gibt, war die Leasingbilanzierung nach US-GAAP und IAS immer wieder der Kritik ausgesetzt. Grund hierfür ist die mangelnde Abgrenzung zwischen operating und finance Leasing.
Ein Vorstoß zur Neugestaltung der Vorschriften erfolgte 1996. Die internationale Arbeitsgruppe ( G4+1 Group), unter Vorsitz des Australiers McGregor, veröffentlichte einen Reformvorschlag unter dem Titel: „ Accounting for Lease: A new Approach“ . Dort wurde vorgeschlagen, die Unterscheidung zwischen Finanzierungsleasing und Operating-Leasing abzuschaffen und statt dessen eine Unterteilung der verschiedenen Leasingverhältnisse aufgrund ihrer Fristigkeit vorzunehmen. Ferner solle der Leasingnehmer lediglich ein Nutzungsrecht und die damit verbundenen Zahlungsverpflichtungen bilanzieren. Der Leasinggeber indes solle die Forderung ( Barwert künftiger Zahlungen), sowie den voraussichtlichen Zeitwert nach Ablauf der Nutzungsdauer, aktivieren.
Dieser Vorschlag wurde zunächst heftig kritisiert, es folgte jedoch 1999 eine weitere Veröffentlichung der G4+1 Group, in der sie den ursprünglichen Vorschlag von Herrn McGregor weiterentwickelten.
Aus dem neuen Positionspapier geht hervor, dass ein Leasingstandart für bestimmte, komplexe Situationen ( Restwertgarantie, Optionen, bedingte Leasingraten) genauer definiert werden sollen. Weiter sollen deutlichere Offenlegungspflichten für Leasinggeber ausgestaltet werden .
Es bleibt somit abzuwarten, ob und wann weitere Änderungen in Kraft treten werden.
