Die Kosten- und Leistungsrechnung beschäftigt sich intensiv mit dieser Gegenüberstellung und bildet somit im gesamten Komplex der Betriebswirtschaftslehre eine wichtige Komponente zur Realisierung des obersten Zieles einer jeden marktorientierten Unternehmung: Der Gewinnmaximierung.

Je nach Größe der Unternehmung kann diese Gegenüberstellung unterschiedlich komplex ausfallen, sodass unterschiedliche Kostenstellen, Kostenarten und Kostenträger ihre Berücksichtigung finden.

Bei der Untersuchung dieses komplexen Teilgebietes des Rechnungswesens soll ein fiktiver Handwerksbetrieb sein, bei dessen Unternehmensgegenstand es sich um die Aufstellung von Gerüsten handeln soll.

Dabei soll die Kosten- und Leistungsrechnung zunächst in das betriebliche Rechnungswesen eingeordnet werden. Weiterhin sollen verschiedene Arten der Kostenrechnung gegenüberstellend betrachtet werden.

Anschließend soll erörtert werden, welche Möglichkeiten der Kostenverrechnung bestehen.

Letztendlich sollen diese theoretischen Grundlagen auf ein praktisches Beispiel in Form eines kleinen Handwerksbetriebes übertragen werden um somit eine aussagekräftige Stundensatzkalkulation zu erstellen und diese in eine realistische Angebotskalkulation zu übertragen.
