Vielen dieser Ansätze gemeinsam ist jedoch die Rezeption des aristotelischen Metaphernbegriffes, insbesondere die Substitutionstheorie und die Vergleichstheorie greifen auf ihn zurück. Kritiker wiederum bemängeln diese Ansätze und die Tradition, in der sie stehen, als veraltet und längst überholt. In dieser Arbeit soll anhand der Primärtexte Poetik und Rhetorik des griechischen Denkers dessen Metapherbegriff herausgearbeitet werden. Weiterhin soll davon ausgehend die Rezeption aufgegriffen und untersucht werden, um am Ende Probleme aber auch Chancen der über 2.300 Jahre alten Werke deutlich zu machen.
