Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Germanistisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Mozart in der Literatur, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Don Juan ist keine historische Figur, sondern ein literarischer Typus. Generationen von Autoren haben über ihn bereits Bücher, Gedichte, Opern, etc. verfasst. Zurückzuführen sind diese Werke auf ein Theaterstück von 1613. Dies schrieb der spanische Mönch Gabriel Tellez unter dem Pseudonym Tirso de Molina: ‚El burlador de Sevilla y convidado de piedra’.

Don Juan ist ein Rebell, der die vorherrschende Gesellschaftsordnung in Frage stellt. Er lebt aus dem Augenblick heraus und ist durch sinnlich-erotische Spontaneität gekennzeichnet. Tirso de Molina schrieb dieses Stück als moralische Zurechtweisung für seine Zeitgenossen. Sie sollten erkennen, dass jeder Sünde eine Bestrafung folgt. Das Stück erzählt die Geschichte eines Mannes Don Juan, der, nachdem er verschiedene Frauen verführt und deren Ehre aufs Spiel gesetzt hat, gewissenlos deren Väter oder Ehemänner in Duellen tötet. Selbst während er auf der Flucht ist, kann er es nicht lassen, Frauen zu verführen und je zurückhaltender sie sind, desto mehr will er sie. Als Don Juan wieder in seinen Heimatort zurückkehrt, wird er letztendlich von einem steinernen Standbild, das ein von ihm im Duell getöteten Vater einer der verführten Frauen darstellt, in die Hölle hinuntergezogen. Der Vater gilt damit als Richter Gottes für Don Juan.

Diese Arbeit will nun einen genaueren Blick auf die, in dieser Tradition stehenden Bearbeitungen in der Literatur, respektive Film, besonders des 20. Jahrhunderts werfen. Verglichen werden sollen Mozarts, beziehungsweise da Pontes, „Don Giovanni“, als eine frühe, und für die Tradition wichtige, Fassung des Themas. Durch diese Oper hat Don Juan, so wird behauptet, seine heutige Berühmtheit erlangt. Als Beispiele des 20. Jahrhunderts werden Max Frischs „Don Juan oder die Liebe zur Geometrie“ als literarische Fassung und der Film „Don Juan DeMarco“ mit einer Buchversion von Jean Black White, nach dem Drehbuch von Jeremy Leven, genauer betrachtet. Nicht nur, dass diese drei Stücke aus unterschiedlichen Zeiten stammen, sie sind auch verschieden durch ihre Medien: Oper, Bühnenstück und Film. Die Werke werden im Hinblick auf ihre vergleichbaren Figurentypen und einzelner zentraler Szenen genauer analysiert.
